Community rallies together to feed wildlife after fire
The community in Kalkheuwel and Leeuwenkloof has been rallying together to feed wildlife after a devastating veld fire that swept through the valley two weeks ago.

Concerned residents are trying to feed the wildlife in the scorched areas.
A number of houses were burnt down during the fire and grazing for wildlife was destroyed.
Communities in these area have now rallied together to provide feed for the animals until grazing is restored after rain. “Thanks to so many people in the community and businesses in Hartbeespoort and other areas, we have been receiving donations to feed the wildlife,” said Martin Lunderstedt of a snare group based at ADA SA Training Centre in Leeuwenkloof where the group is dedicated to the protection of the animals in the area.
“We want to thank all the people and businesses who opened their hearts to the wild animals who lost all their fodder in the region. As a result of these fantastic people we have been providing some food for the wild animals for the next week or two until the plants grow again,” he said.
