According to the letter presented to the council, Maimane said he had decided to appoint Khumo Morare to act as Executive Mayor, but under the following conditions: That the acting mayor did not use the mayoral vehicle, the mayoral office or the mayoral security detail. Another condition was that the acting mayor did not receive an acting allowance during the period.
Maimane took special leave from 25 March 2025 until 25 April.
After the letter was presented to the Madibeng Council, it was resolved that the acting mayor was entitled to all the benefits associated with the position.
