A multi-vehicle crash on the R511 Hennops River Road near Hartbeespoort on Friday night claimed four lives, including that of a child.
According to Leandre Spies, spokesperson for Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), a taxi carrying passengers, a truck and a car were involved in the accident around 20:00.
“It was a chaotic scene and required the response of various emergency services. Despite the swift efforts of emergency responders, three individuals were declared dead on the scene, including a minor. Several patients with injuries ranging from moderate to serious were transported to hospitals by different ambulance services. One of the patients succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital,” she said.
“This tragic accident serves as a sorrowful reminder of the fragility of life and the critical importance of prioritising safety on our roads. Thoughts and prayers are extended to the families and loved ones of those affected.”
