Hartbeespoort has a hidden artists’ den that all art lovers and artists should know about. Nestled in the popular Little Paris, ButterflyBlu Art Gallery focuses on introducing local artists’ work to tourists from all over South Africa.
“When I opened the gallery two years ago, it was with the sole intent of promoting Hartbeespoort’s artists and budding artists. There was a demand for a gallery and outlet for local talent,” says Karen van Huizen, owner of the gallery, situated inside the ButterflyBlu gift shop.
The quaint gallery exhibits the work of seven or more artists at any given time, varying from pottery to multi-media art pieces and paintings in all mediums. Well-known artists such as Elsabe Pienaar and Elsa Cornelissen’s work also adorn the walls. Many of the artists are students of Elsabe Pienaar.”Hartbeespoort has always been known as an art mecca and with the art gallery, we want to encourage local talented people and give them a platform to showcase their talent.”
