Get ready… it is Om Die Dam time!
Thousands of athletes will descend on Hartbeespoort again on Saturday, 15 March, for the annual Om Die Dam.
Approximately 2 500 athletes have entered the 50km ultramarathon and 2 000 for both the 21km and the 8km races.
The ultramarathon kicks off for the 50km at 06:00 from Hartbeespoort High School. Athletes will run via Marais Street, Schubert Street and through Ifafi to the R511 over Saartjiesnek to the Platinum N4 highway for approximately 9km and then turning back, again over Saartjiesnek, through Meerhof, Ifafi and Schoemansville back to the starting point.
The 21km athletes will run from Necsa Gate 3 on R104 (Pelindaba Road) over Saartjiesnek to Hartbeespoort High School.
The 8km race starts at 06:45 from the high school to the Hartbeespoort Dam wall and back.
Parking is available on land across the road from the high school.
“We ask residents to please accommodate the runners on the roads and if possible, avoid congested areas during the times when the runners will be on the road,” the Om Die Dam committee said.
