Gynaecologist opens doors in Schoemansville

Dr Jakub Jagiellowicz, a passionate obstetrician and gynaecologist with a particular interest in urogynaecology and pelvic floor disorders, recently opened his consulting rooms in Hartbeespoort.

Dr. Jakub, who believes in providing the best possible holistic care to all his patients, finds the miracle of birth as the ultimate celebration of life. “Travelling the journey of pregnancy with a patient is a privilege. I. have a special interest in gynaecology and urogynaecology and I believe in personally assisting patients with their return to health,” he says.
He is passionate about managing gynaecological problems, especially those related to contraception, menopause and the pelvic floor. Developing a special interest in pelvic floor disorders, he completed a fellowship in subspecialty training in urogynaecology at the University of Pretoria.
Although growing up in South Africa, Dr. Jagiellowicz decided to explore his Polish roots after school and undertook his undergraduate medical training at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. It was there that he discovered his passion for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After returning home to South Africa in 2005, he spent his community service year in the busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Klerksdorp – Tshepong Hospital, providing much-needed care to the women of the North West Province. In the same year, he also completed a Diploma in Obstetrics.
In 2008 he relocated to Stellenbosch, where he worked as a General Practitioner with a special interest in obstetrics. Then in 2009, Dr Jagiellowicz relocated to the United Kingdom, where he broadened his experience by working as a general practitioner. Deciding to embrace his passion for obstetrics and gynaecology, Dr Jagiellowicz returned to South Africa and took a post in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of George Hospital in 2011.
“After gaining experience at the Groote Schuur Hospital, I specialised at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital and obtained my Master’s degree from the University of Pretoria and the Fellowship of the College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of South Africa.
“I am passionate about assisting women in managing gynaecological problems, especially those related to contraception, menopause and the pelvic floor,” he says.
