Starting this week, Rand Water will be embarking on extensive maintenance of its infrastructure until 29 July 2024 and residents in Hartbeespoort who receive water from Rand Water should be prepared for possible water shortages.
The maintenance project will be implemented on different dates in different municipalities. According to Justice Mohale of Rand Water, affected municipalities have been informed of the impact on water supply and Rand Water has given them a 21-day period to allow them to execute appropriate contingency measures and manage storage capacity prior to and during the maintenance period.
“Rand Water will be embarking on an extensive proactive maintenance of its infrastructure from 22 June to 29 July 2024. Proactive infrastructure maintenance is important to preserve the quality and integrity of the infrastructure, reduce maintenance costs in the long term and increase the life span of the infrastructure and assets,” Rand Water said.
“Rand Water plans its maintenance during the low water demand season in winter and / or during the December Holiday season. We have engaged with our municipal customers, continue to engage and officially notify them about the upcoming maintenance project to ensure that they put appropriate contingency plans in place and inform their customers accordingly.”
Residents in Rietfontein, Meerhof, Ifafi and parts of Melodie will be affected.
The Madibeng Municipality said water tankers will supply the affected areas with potable water during shortages.
