The community joined hands again last weekend, continuing to clean up the Hartbeespoort Dam shore and other areas.
Around 700 refuse bags with litter and debris were filled during the clean-up over the weekend. In Kosmos and Kommandonek alone, a staggering 550 refuse bangs were filled with rubbish. In the dam wall area over 150 refuse bags of litter were picked up.
According to Dion Mostert, approximately 45 people took part in the Kosmos and Kommandonek area. “We followed a resident, Jo Dreyer’s example the previous week and we are proud to have cleaned up so much debris from the dam shore.”
Resident Annelie Jovaris and her team of only four people tackled the dam wall to clean up. “If everyone did a little, we can clean up Hartbeespoort. We have such a beautiful town, let’s keep it that way. Let’s be proud of our town.”
Organisers expressed their gratitude to WESSA for the bags sponsored and to everybody who took part in the cleanup.
The next cleanup will be at Ifafi Aquatic Club on 2 and 9 November. Residents are urged to join and help clean Hartbeespoort Dam. Join the team and make a difference. Contact 0829301799 or 083 454 1544 if you want to help.
