Well-known Hartbeespoort painter Ingrid Kolzing is exhibiting her work at an exhibition at her gallery at 94 Van Velden Street in Schoemansville on Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 November from 09:00 to 16:00.

‘Three Judges’ by Ingrid Kolzing

The exhibition is titled Aprés les Mots (After words) and features a large number of her latest paintings. Ingrid’s exhibitions are traditionally accompanied by prose that explains her theme:
A man paints with his head, not with his hands – Michelangelo
After words, there is silence.
Silence wakes the senses, and then I paint.
I paint what I sense, see and feel.
Getting a high on the inspiring colours revealed in a landscape; amazement at the flight of birds and their colours; majestic trees with their age old rough bark; graceful gazelles; comic-face of a beetle; rock formations; windswept clouds; scary summer storms; and people: The love of a grandchild; the joy of a young mother; the core felt ache of seeing the struggle of the elderly as they wait for their final call; life’s commitments; being true to yourself; being thankful.
In nature’s silence, I find my teacher.
In the quiet stillness of the bush, I find solace. The texture of bark and leaves, and finding colour between dried out grass or a feather excites me.
I pick up a twig and use it as a tool to paint or do marks, drawing the tree with its own twig.
God’s grace and mercy is still so much around us, if your eyes are open to see, to hear to feel and smell. Experiencing His creations with my senses inspires me to show how I perceive them. The beauty of His creation still calls us to worship Him.
I can create with my head and hands because God gave me the ability. I praise the Giver of gifts.
