The Madibeng Municipality has issued a warning for residents in Hartbeespoort and Brits to first boil water before drinking it.
In a public notice on Thursday, the municipality said that recent assessments have identified microbiological non-compliance in the water distribution networks. Madibeng did not elaborate on the details of the non-compliance. This affects residents in Schoemansville in Hartbeespoort and Brits which receive water from the municipal network.
“The municipality, in adherence to Blue Drop requirements, deems it imperative to inform the public about a drinking water quality issue. We urge residents to implement precautionary measures such as boiling water before drinking it,” the notice, issued by Acting Municipal Manager Walter Phala said.
“As part of our Blue Drop Improvement commitment, corrective actions are underway, including an increase in chlorine dosing. It’s important to note that water quality issues are swiftly resolved post-chlorine dosing.”
