“With this expansion, the hospital extends its bed capacity from 80 to 102 beds, enabling us to accommodate our patients’ growing needs. In addition, a new surgical and medical ward, ICU, high-care unit, and a modernised emergency centre are available. In addition, we have a fully upgraded pharmacy that includes retail, a welcoming coffee shop, and additional parking for patients and visitors. We wanted to ensure we addressed practical issues as part of our improved patient experience,” explains Sonja Landman, Hospital General Manager of Mediclinic Brits.
The hospital continues to provide a wide range of specialities, including General and Orthopaedic Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Specialist Physicians, and Paediatrics. Sub-specialties, including Maxillofacial Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery and Neurosurgery, were also included, ensuring that patients have easy and convenient access to world-class care. This also now includes the ability to offer on-site acute renal services, enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive care to patients with kidney conditions. In response to growing demand, our radiology department has expanded, now offering a state-of-the-art MRI scanner.

Landman further explains that the expansion not only translates to better patient care and improved clinical outcomes but also the impact of business on the environment. “A number of technical improvements were included in the project to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and comfort within the hospital including air conditioning optimised climate regulation as well as introduction of inverter-only AC units for energy efficiency. Other environmental improvements include LED lighting and energy-efficient coatings for roofs and walls to reduce heat absorption as well as sun screening installation to minimise solar heat gain. As part of the Group’s commitment to their ‘zero waste to landfill by 2030’, a dedicated waste segregation area was introduced to support environmental sustainability.”
Mediclinic Brits would also like to express its heartfelt thanks to the community for its unwavering support and patience during this challenging period of upgrading and expanding the facility.
“We are extremely proud of our new facility and are excited to welcome all our patients and their families to experience the enhanced care and services we now offer,” Landman concludes.
