A motorist was shot on the R566 Rosslyn Road near De Wildt on Sunday night after his car hit rocks on the road.
After hitting the rocks at about 19:30, the motorist and three passengers had to stop and an unknown number of armed men approached them and threatened them at gunpoint. According to Tshego Kekae of Phetogo Security Services who attended the scene, one of the passengers managed to flee into the bushes. “The victims were robbed of their belongings. A doctor driving by stopped and assisted the driver who was shot in the abdomen.”
The suspects fled on foot.
Shortly before the incident, a car drove over spikes on the N4 and also had to stop. “Fortunately TMPD metro police were in the area and ensured the motorist’s safety while he was changing a tyre.”
Metro police, security companies and police have increased patrols on the N4.
