Two Madibeng municipal workers were injured, one seriously, when a transformer exploded in Brits on Tuesday.

According to Leandre Spies, spokesperson for Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), municipal technicians were working on the transformer in Van Velden Street when it exploded. One sustained serious burn wounds to his face, head and hands. “Another also sustained burn wound, but less serious.”
The injured workers were transported to a hospital in Brits. The seriously injured patient was transferred to a hospital in Johannesburg for specialised medical care.
