N4 robbers target motorists once again

More motorists fell victim to N4 robbers last weekend when they hit rock barricades on the N4 near Brits.
On Sunday night two motorists hit rocks and spikes around 23:00 near the De Wildt/Ga-Rankuwa offramp. “The robbers placed a large boulder on one side of the road and spikes on the other side. I tried to avoid the boulder and hit the spikes,” said Lloyd Bongs, who works in the security industry and returned from Brits after a meeting with the police. “I managed to control my car and drove on. I immediately phoned Afriforum Neighbourhood Watch, Aequitas Security and the police. A few hundred metres on, my car couldn’t drive anymore but luckily help arrived soon after,” he said.
At the same time, another motorist fell victim to the same setup on the oncoming lane only a few hundred metres from Bongs’ incident. This motorist lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the veld.
Fortunately, Aequitas, Afriforum Neighbourhood Watch and the police were on the scene.
Motorists are warned to avoid the N4 highway at night. In the past year, many motorists have been robbed, and a number murdered by robbers who use spikes and boulders to trap motorists.
