Hartbeespoort Dam NRSI has removed tons of debris from the Hartbeespoort Dam over the past weeks.

A 40m barrier was found in the dam.

For the past three weeks, the NSRI crew have been promoting dam safety by removing dangerous debris from the Hartbeespoort Dam.
“We have, for instance, removed between 70 and 80 tree stumps. We are still looking for a submerged jetty in the dam. At one stage we thought we had found it but then discovered a submerged barrier of a kind about 40 metres long, constructed with poles and other materials. It would have been disastrous if a boat hit the barrier,” said Athur Crewe of the Hartbeespoort Dam NSRI.
The NSRI and the Marine Law Enforcement Unit were out on the dam in full force the past weekend. “It was busy and there were events all around the dam. Fortunately no emergency occurred, Crewe said.
