Om Die Dam 2024
Thousands of athletes will descend on Hartbeespoort again on Saturday for the annual Om Die Dam.
Over three thousand athletes have entered for the 50km ultramarathon and 1 400 for the 8km fun run.
STARTING TIMES
The ultramarathon starts at 06:00 from the Hartbeespoort High School.
Athletes will run over the Hartbeespoort Dam wall, around the dam and back over Saartjiesnek to finish at the school.
The 8km race starts from the school at 06:45 to the dam wall and back.
ROAD CLOSURES
The road from the Damdoryn 4-way stop though the tunnel to Scott Street will be closed from 05:30am to 09:00am to all forms of transport. Route accreditation will be provided to residents and businesses in the area. Pedestrians will have access.
There will be a partial road closure (stop-and-go) on the R104. The road from the R512 (Arrow Rest) T-junction, past Pecanwood Estate, Hartbeeshoek T-junction, Lanseria T-Junction, the Pelindaba/Necsa (R104) road to the 3-way stop, and the connecting road going over the Toll road to the R511, will be partially closed from 06:30 to 10:30 Saturday morning. Stop-and-Go procedures will be in place with only one lane open during these times. Route accreditation will be provided to residents and businesses in the area.
“We ask residents to please accommodate the runners on the roads and if possible, avoid the congested areas during the times when the runners will be on the road,” says Om Die Dam committee.
Additional parking has been created on land across the road from the high school, and visitors will also be able to park at the various churches in Marais Street.
