SANRAL, Madibeng clean up Hartbeespoort

The South Africa National Roads Agency (SANRAL) together with Madibeng Municipality clamped down on illegal vendors along the R511 and Beethoven Road in Hartbeespoort on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This follows previous clampdowns earlier this year. Illegal vendors scurried to remove as much of their wares as possible on Tuesday.
Police, Madibeng traffic and health officials accompanied SANRAL as the illegal vendors’ wares were confiscated, destroyed and removed.
A number of roadside food stalls were destroyed, and sand, instant lawn and bricks flattened along the road. Illegal roadside vendors received warnings and notices to vacate earlier this year. Despite the previous blitz, they had set up business along the roads again.
Madibeng and SANRAL officials indicated that cleanup operations would be ongoing.
