Three people, including a child, died in a horrific accident on the Bakwena N4 near Brits on Wednesday.
According to Leandre Spies, spokesperson for Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), the collision occurred when one vehicle allegedly veered into the oncoming lane leading to a head-on collision. “The crash claimed three lives, including a minor,” she said.
HEMS and Station 21 Fire & Rescue swiftly responded to the scene and worked tirelessly to extricate two people trapped in the wreckage. “Despite their best efforts, one person succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
“Four seriously injured patients, including three minors, were treated on scene by HEMS paramedics and transported to a hospital in Brits for further medical care. A critically injured patient was airlifted to a hospital in Johannesburg,” she said.
“As authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, the tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of reckless driving and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.”
