Toddler, baby die in taxi accident
A toddler and a baby died in a horrific head-on collision between a taxi and a car on the R512 in Broederstroom on Thursday.

Two children and a taxi driver died in the collision in Broederstroom.
A two-year-old girl and a week-old baby, as well as the driver of a taxi were declared dead at the scene. According to Leandre Spies, spokesperson for Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), the toddler and baby were travelling in a taxi full of passengers when it collided head-on with the car near Westlake Estate.
“A woman in the car was critically injured and flown by emergency helicopter to a hospital in Johannesburg. Eleven people in the taxi were injured, several serious. HEMS’ fire unit had to cut the victims from the car and taxi,” she said.
In yet another head-on taxi collision in Brits earlier on Thursday, four people were seriously injured when a taxi and a bakkie collided head-on in the Brits Industrial area. “Three taxi passengers and a woman in the other vehicle were seriously injured and taken to hospitals by HEMS,” Spies said.
