BEAUTIFUL PAVEMENT-COLOUR BY CONTRAST
by Andy de Wet – Aloe Farm Hartbeespoort
Selecting tough plants with colourful foliage is the easiest way to create a beautiful and sustainable sidewalk garden.
There are many succulents and drought resistant plants that have beautiful striking leaves, and in season, some even flower beautifully. If you plant groupings of these, rather than a collection of single plants, they will stand out from a distance. Maximise the way that they contrast each other in foliage shape, texture and colour and they will automatically look stunning!
Perfect plants(in the picture) are;
• Kalanchoe beharensis(felt bush)
• Aptenia Gold, Vincas(they are easy and flower a lot)
• Iresine herbstii(striking red foliage) • Delospermum cooperii(free flowering, ground cover Vygie)
• Aloe cooperii,(upright foliage and flowers around now)
• Euryops chrysanthemoides(yellow flowering shrub)
• Plectranthus neochilus(variegated foliage)
• Crassula ovata(jade plant)
• Senicio vitalis(grey upright foliage).
