Kosmos murders, court case again postponed
The bail hearing of 61-year-old Paul Prinsloo who is accused of murdering his wife and stepdaughter in Hartbeespoort in November 2023, was again postponed in the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday. This was his fifth appearance in court.
Prinsloo is accused of shooting and killing his wife Magdaleen Prinsloo (58) and his stepdaughter Ruzanne Weideman (31) with a hunting rifle in their Kosmos home on 27 November last year. Police said at the time that an argument between the man and the women broke out around 14:00 after which Prinsloo fetched a hunting rifle and killed both women. The incident happened in front of Weideman’s six-year-old daughter.
Prinsloo was supposed to apply for bail on Monday, but the case was postponed to 24 April due to a lack of water at the courthouse. A new investigating officer has also been appointed and he was not ready to proceed with the bail hearing.
Prinsloo initially abandoned bail but he is now represented by a new legal team. Advocate Zirk Pansegrouw and attorney Tom Pritchard will represent him during the bail application on 15 April.
