Leon Basson, a well-known Brits resident and member of parliament has been elected chairperson of the portfolio Water and Sanitation in the National Assembly.
Basson served as DA shadow minister of DWS and is the DA Constituency Head of Madibeng. He served as a councillor in the Madibeng Municipality from 1995 till 2014. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2014 and 2019 and was the DA Deputy Provincial Leader of North West from 2017 – 2020.
“We are extremely proud of Leon. This is probably one of the most difficult portfolios but with his people skills and leadership style, he can bring much-needed change to this portfolio,” said Erna Rossouw, Madibeng councillor and DA Constituency Chairperson in Madibeng.
