Thrift Haven celebrates its first birthday
Thrift Haven, the charming little thrift store situated across the way from the HAWS second hand book store in the Ifafi Business Centre, is celebrating its first birthday this week.
Over the past 12 months it has become a favourite destination for many of Harties’ bargain hunters looking for great deals on good quality second-hand clothes, toys, kitchenware, home and other goods. The shop is also frequented by local retailers of antiques, classic and vintage goods.
The store operates for the benefit of Heartlands Haven, a charitable organization started by the leadership of Heartlands Church. The mission of Heartlands Haven is the housing, education, care and counselling of abandoned, abused, neglected, orphaned or homeless children. The charity is actively assisting children from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially in the area of education. Last year, Heartlands Haven purchased a former B&B and is currently in the process of restoring the property whereafter it will be used to provide after-school homework support to children, children trauma counselling and accommodation for foster families.
You can support Heartlands Haven by donating previously loved possessions at Thrift Haven or by making a financial donation directly to Heartlands Haven. Heartlands Haven is a public benefit organization and any financial donations over R100 entitles the donor to a Section 18A certificate which will be issued after the conclusion of the relevant tax year.
