According to Pierre Swart, chairman of the estate’s Home Owners Association (HOA), the fire broke out in the restaurant on the second floor of the clubhouse shortly before 13:00. “It is suspected that a problem with the pizza oven caused the fire. The lames were doused quickly by our people and HEMS Fire & Rescue. Fortunately, no one was injured,” he said.

“The fire caused quite a bit of damage to the restaurant, especially the roof trusses but luckily the building structure and the Pro Shop and ground floor were not damaged,” he said.
Golf activities continue as normal, only the restaurant will be closed for the foreseeable future.
“As soon as we get the go-ahead from the insurance company, we will start rebuilding the restaurant. This will also allow us to upgrade the space,” Swart said.
